Greetings from Reno,

It’s hard to believe another year has passed and I’m just about to get back in the boat again, Year #24 as a full time fishing guide.  2018 was another fun year “on the sticks” (rowing in Oregon) and “Up North” (Alaska).  As I look back and try to remember, which seems to be a little harder every year 🙂 , I recall that my steelhead season was mostly highlighted by the weather and water conditions we experienced throughout me season Feb-April.  We did not have great weather but the storms were never severe enough to cause “flooding” and I had to cancel very few trips, in fact no trips were cancelled until a rare late storm the last week of my season.  We had another good run of steelhead, probably overall below average but still enough fish to keep everyday entertaining.   Most steelhead were “average” 6-10 lbs with a handful larger ones caught.  Attached are a few pix from last year.
Oregon steelhead Outlook for 2019 is looking good so far, while it is still early for the bulk of the steelhead run, the early season reports have been decent, especially the size and quality of the fish.  Every year is a little different, and figuring out “Mother Nature” is always a challenge I am eager to begin my pursuit of these magnificent creatures.  As in the past, I am 100% filled for my season and have brought on board a couple additional guides to run trips for Anderson’s Outdoors.  If interested in  an Oregon steelhead float trip, either using spin tackle or fly fishing let me know and we’ll find a date.  All float trips will be on one of the beautiful rivers in Tillamook County on the North Oregon coast with accommodations in the beach town of Pacific City OR.
Due to the limited availability of trips to offer in 2019 I have reduced my Trade Shows down to only representing at the Wild Sheep Convention  in Reno.  The “Sheep Show” will be Feb 7-9, at the Reno Convention Center.  If you are in the area, it is a fantastic show, mostly directed towards the hunting community but many international destinations and taxidermists also present along with some other fishing outfitters.  Stop by Booth # 549 (new location this year) and say “Hello”
Many of you I will be seeing and sharing an adventure with over the next 6 months,  for the rest of you, I hope you have a great year and fulfill many dreams of your fishing and hunting life and I look forward to helping with those memories in the future.
